ANITZAK EKIMENA: DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS, ONE PEOPLE
Anitzak ekimena is an initiative formed by people coming from outside with very different origins, from other peoples belonging to the Spanish and French states as well from the rest of the European Union, and from countries and territories outside the EU.
The initiative was born in a very specific situation, just when the last political negotiation process was ongoing, and our initial aim was to provide the process with coverage, and to boost it, because despite coming from other places, we felt, and we feel, that we are members of this people.
Today, although we are in a very different situation, we will not give up our determination to work in order to create again the necessary conditions that would allow to go back to this path. However, together with this work, we, members of Anitzak, firmly believe that the rights of the migrants and the rights that the nation of Euskal Herria has, far from being conflicting, are perfectly compatible. This is the reason why we have also decided to extend our work to defend this claim. This work consist of generating the necessary conditions to put the so-called policies of mutual recognition into practice. These policies are based on a double commitment:
On the one hand, we, the migrants who come to live here, commit to recognize the existence of Euskal Herria, as a nation with all the rights (political, social, cultural, and linguistic STIC), that any nation has.
On the another hand, the whole Basque society has also to recognize the migrants as subjects with their own history, language, culture, without the need to renounce them to be accepted as full members of the Basque society.
